Joe Buckles

Joe Buckles is a Lexington native who has spent his career in Kentucky’s courtrooms. After graduating from Henry Clay High School, he earned a B.S. from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture and a J.D. from the UK College of Law, where he served on the Journal of Natural Resources and Environmental Law.

Joe began his legal career at the Peter Perlman Law Office, one of Kentucky’s most respected plaintiff’s firms, where he was mentored by trial legend Peter Perlman. In 2011, he founded Buckles Law Office to build a practice focused on civil litigation with the kind of personal service that bigger firms can’t provide.

Since then, Joe has tried cases ranging from contract disputes and estate litigation to civil rights and criminal defense. His results include a landmark civil rights verdict in Ermold v. Davis that was upheld by the Sixth Circuit and taken to the U.S. Supreme Court, and a $3 million verdict in Estate of Lindsey v. Trigg.

Joe currently serves as a Fayette County Trial Commissioner and as an Administrative Hearing Officer for LFUCG Code Enforcement Appeals. He also manages commercial real estate in downtown Lexington through BCO Holdings, LLC.

Outside the office, Joe is an active member of the Lexington community. He is a three-time Master’s Champion of the Bluegrass 10K and a volunteer Advocacy Ambassador for Autism Speaks, having successfully lobbied Congressman Andy Barr to join the Congressional Autism Caucus in 2022.
